This 8 day trip offers the opportunity to meet other tourists on this relaxing bus tour and to see the unforgettable scenery of the island. From the Catalan city of Alghero to the elite coast of the Costa Smeralda, the tour passes through the jewel of Corsica, Bonifacio, before visiting the city of Cagliari. Guests on the tour will have a chance to see the mysterious Su Nuraxi, an important UNESCO World Heritage site situated in the innermost part of the island and discover all of what the island has to offer.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday): ALGHERO - The meeting with the guide is fixed at 8 pm in the lobby of the hotel. Guests will meet the guide, who will accompany them during the tour. Dinner will be with the rest of the group in order to introduce people to each other and to learn more about the tour. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 (Sunday): ALGHERO - CASTELSARDO (150 Km) - Breakfast. During the morning, guests will visit the historic centre of Alghero. Walking down the narrow streets of this lively town that is marked by Catalan influence, guests can pursue historic interests, enjoy beautiful landscapes and shopping. The visit will finish at 11 am. Free time will be allocated for shopping or to visit the famous Neptune's Cave. Lunch at the Hotel.  In the afternoon, guests will head towards Castelsardo, a medieval village on the edge of a cliff, built on a mount on the sea. Enjoy the stunning views stretching over the whole of the Asinara Gulf. The highlight of this town is the castle located on the top of the hill built by the "Doria" family. Castelsardo is a very interesting place where guests can buy handicrafts. Return to Alghero, dinner and overnight stay in the Hotel.

Day 3 (Monday): BONIFACIO - COSTA SMERALDA (250 Km) - Breakfast. Departure from Alghero towards the jewel of Corsica. On arrival in Santa Teresa, Bonifacio is reached by ferry (the channel crossing takes around 50 minutes). The day will be spent visiting the old town's centre, which teeters on the verge of incredibly high cliffs on the sea. From the harbour, guests take the little train up to the characteristic Citadel with its ancient walls and coloured shops, vivid cafès, the "belvedere" which offers a breathtaking view over the famous "Bocche di Bonifacio" (seaway of Bonifacio). Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, the ferry will take guests back to Santa Teresa, and afternoon ends with a visit to the world-famous Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda), a luxurious holiday destination, boasting of enchanting scenery. Its pristine coves, flanked by granite rocks, luxurious villas and fabulous hotels, are home to the crème de la crème of the international jet set during summer. Dinner and overnight stay in Olbia or nearby.

Day 4 (Tuesday): ORGOSOLO - MAMOIADA - NUORO - ORISTANO (250 Km) - After breakfast, the day will be dedicated to visiting a few villages of the innermost part of Sardinia. The tour will start from Mamoiada, known for traditional masks, displayed in an interesting museum. Among the most characteristic, those called ‘Mamuthones' and ‘Issohadores', have become symbols of the whole of Sardinia. After Mamoiada, the tour continues with a stop at Orgosolo, a rural village surrounded by the steep sides of mount Supramonte'. Here, painted on the village's walls, over one hundred murals can be seen, most of them based on social and political themes. Here guests will experience a typical Sardinian "Shepherds' lunch". Before reaching Oristano, guests will make a quick visit to the city of Nuoro. Dinner and overnight stay in Oristano or nearby.

Day 5 (Wednesday): THARROS-BARUMINI-MINES OF MONTEVECCHIO (195 Km) - After breakfast, guests will take a short walk in the historic centre of Oristano. The morning continues with a visit to the ruins of the Punic-Roman town "Tharros", now thought to be of extraordinary archaeological importance. The trip continues southbound to Villanovaforru. Lunch at the hotel and afternoon will be spent visiting the famous complex of Barumini. With its imposing central tower and the many surrounding ruins, ‘Su Nuraxi' is one of the World Heritage sites recognised by UNESCO. A museum has recently been opened, where the findings are displayed. The next stop is Montevecchio, an old miners' settling, for a guided visit to a mine. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 (Thursday): CAGLIARI (130 Km) - Breakfast. Whole day spent visiting the city of Cagliari. The trip starts from the colourful quarter called Marina, moving on to the bustling Via Roma, the grand Town Hall, the distinguished palaces, the magnificent historic centre, and ends up in the quarter called ‘Castello' with its medieval walls. Guests will visit the important Archaeological Museum. Lunch at a restaurant. In the evening, guests will reach the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7 (Friday): S. CRISTINA SACRED WELL - BOSA - ALGHERO (270 Km) - After breakfast, the day starts with a visit of the sacred well of Santa Cristina. Guests will head northwards towards Bosa, situated on the north bank of the Temo river, the only navigable river on the island. It is a pleasant destination as it combines the cultural interest of its medieval centre's monuments (notably, the imposing "Malaspina Castle") and sandy beaches. Lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, guests will travel to Alghero via the panoramic coastline road with its unique cliffs dramatically dropping into the crystal-clear sea. With a bit of luck, guests might come across the rare griffin, which populates this side of the Sardinian coastline. Arrival in Alghero and time at the guests' disposal for the last round of shopping. Dinner and overnight stay in Alghero.

Day 8 (Saturday): ALGHERO - Breakfast. End of tour.
